Matthew 15:21–28.
Leaving the place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to Him, crying out, Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon- possesion. Jesus did not answer a word. So His disciples came to Him and urged Him, Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us. He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. The woman came and knelt before Him. Lord, help me! she said. He replied, It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs. Yes, Lord, she said, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table. Then Jesus answered, Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted. And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Here Jesus healed a young girl who was severely tormented.
Angels will be with the Son of Man at His second coming. See Matthew 16:27, For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done.
Many people, when they hear Angels and Demons mentioned, they think about a body naked with wings or about men with long, white robes, harp in hand, floating on the cloud etc. And on the other hand, they think of (demon) a Rascally and laughable being in a red wear with horns, carrying a pitchfork. It is these reasons why many people say they do not believe in such beings.
The Bible teaches, how REAL ANGELS AND DEMONS ARE.
Looking at the origin of angels. Where do they come from?
They were created by God. See Colossians 1:16, For by Him all things were created : things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. There was a time when they did not exist, they have less power than God and they are under God’s control, and are spiritual beings.
Like the origin of human being, the origin of angels were good.
Angels have two activities before the Lord, they worship Him and they also serve Him. Read Psalm 103:20–21, Praise the Lord, you His angels, you mighty ones who do His bidding, who obey His word. Praise the Lord, all His heavenly hosts, you his servants who do His will. See Matthew 28:5–6, The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here ; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Also read Matthew 24:31, And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
The good angels served those who belong to the Lord. 1st Kings 19:5–7, Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, Get up and eat. He looked around, and there by his head was a cake of bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angels of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you. See Daniel 6:22, My God sent His angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O King. Also read Acts of Apostles 5:19–20, But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the doors of the jail and brought them out.
But where did the Demon who sometimes torment human come from. The truth of the matter is that not ALL of the angels God created continued to be good. Read 2nd Peter 2 : 4, For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but send them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment.
The bad angels are also very active, while the good angels are serving the Lord and His children, the bad angels (Devil or Satan) are busy opposing them. Read Matthew 4:1–3, Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry. The tempter came to Him and said, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Read Genesis 3. Also read Matthew 12 : 22, Then they brought Him a demon- possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.
James 4:7, Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. See 1st Peter 5:9, Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
The Bible teaches us that God has placed certain LIMITS upon the activities of the angels, either good or bad one.
The book of Job will be useful for study. Job was a good man and for this reason Satan was his enemy and wanted to harm him. God gave Satan permission to try Job. But, notice how God LIMITED Satan’s activities. Read Job 1:12, The Lord said to Satan, Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger. Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
Now, we can see why good Christians must not be afraid of these attacks by bad angels. Although God does permit Satan and His angels to trouble us, their power is always LIMITED by God. See Colossians 2:15, And having the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
So, remember-Jesus has more power than all of the wicked angels. The believers need not fear their activity since God’s spirit is greater than they. Jesus triumphed over them on the cross.
