We are Christians, that is, Christ like. The human body of Jesus, the Son of Man, passed (or would pass) through five stages :- (1) Birth, (2) Death (3) Resurrection (4) Ascension and (5) Second coming.
See Matthew 16 : 21 – 28, From that time on Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. Never, Lord ! he said. This shall never happen to you ! Jesus turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan ! You are a stumbling block to me ; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men. Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul ? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul ? For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done. I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.
Note verses 27 and 28 and verse 21. Now, verse 22, Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. Never, Lord ! he said. This shall never happen to you ! How did Peter react to this news of Christ’s coming death, He rebuked Jesus.
Are you generally pleased when someone you love is going to die or when he is dead ? We can say NO.
Christian, that is, Christ like. Jesus said, in Matthew 16 : 21, that His suffering and death would be Necessary. Luke 24 : verses 26 and 46, Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter His glory ? He told them, This is what is written : The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day. Both of these verses say that it was necessary for Christ to suffer. (Some of us will suffer before our death)
It was so NECESSARY for the Christ to suffer and die that Jesus scolded Peter sharply when he opposed the idea. To the point, Jesus identified Peter with Satan at that moment. See Matthew 16 : 23, Jesus turned and said to Peter, Get behind me, Satan ! You are a stumbling block to me ; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men. Note that God knows the best for someone’s end.
Matthew 26 : 53 – 54 says, Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and He will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels ? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way ?
When Jesus was arrested, He could have asked His Father to send His Angels to set Him free. Even in Matthew 27 : 39 – 43, Those who passed by hurled insults at Him, shaking their heads and saying, You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself ! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God ! In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked Him. He saved others, they said, but He can’t save Himself ! He’s the King of Israel ! Let Him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in Him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue Him now if He wants Him, for He said I am the Son of God. When the people tempted Jesus by suggesting that He should save Himself from death on the cross, He could have done it but He surrendered to the will of God.
And Jesus did not ask for the help of the angels and He did not come down from the cross because it was Necessary that He dies.
DEATH is the greatest problem mankind faces. This is true for many reasons because all men die, because it brings much sadness and because (apart from God’s word) nothing is known about what happens on the other side of death. But what must happen to everyone who is born into the world. They must die.
In order to discover the reason for this necessity, we must go back once again into the Old Testament. Genesis 2 : 16 – 17, And the Lord God commanded the man, You are free to eat from any tree in the garden ; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die. The penalty for disobeying the command of God means Man would surely die.
Because all men have sinned, it is NECESSARY that all men experience death. That is why it was also NECESSARY that Christ, the Son of Man experience death, even though He did NOT sin, as the son of man, He identified Himself with our flesh and blood and with the fact that we must all die.
It is true that all men must die physically. However, what kind of death do we NOT have to experience because Christ bore our sins on the cross is eternal death. Read Matthew 16 : 24 – 26, Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul ? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul ? And finally read 1st Corinthians 15 : 20 – 23, But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn : Christ, the firstfruits ; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him.
According to these verses, « those who belong to him » will all be made Alive, that is, just as « in Adam all die » So also in Christ everyone who believes will be Raised from the Dead.
So then, death is not the end for the Christian ! We shall be raised again from the dead to live eternally with our Lord.
We should note those who are left behind after the death of a loved one also have difficult adjustments to make.
Acceptance of death in a personal sense takes time. Even if we accept the idea of death and our own mortality. We must accept it as a reality. Then we can give attention and energy to experiencing life again fully.
May God assist in all understandings.
CHRISTIAN AND SOCIAL HELP
TEXT USED:- Matthew 25:14–46.
Giving material help to the needy–things such as food, clothing and shelter to those who do not have it is what I called DIRECT HELP in this write up. Why working toward changes in the way the society is organized and governed so that certain kinds of problems can be ended, for example, child labor laws and fixing minimum wages for workers both private and public, that, I called SOCIAL HELP.
Let’s look at DIRECT HELP first. It is often necessary for us to offer DIRECT HELP to those in need. However, there are certain risks involved in this kind of help and unfortunately, it does not solve the long range problems which caused the need in first place. The results, it may encourage laziness and an attitude of dependence upon others to solve their problems. And it often allows the basic cause to remain unsolved.
Some people who are in need will not seek help from others. We must be aware that this is so and offer help when it is needed. Others however will ask for help.
Some will ask for money. There is a danger involved in giving money to such people which we must try to avoid, painful or not. Often those who ask for money do not spend it wisely.
There are several ways in which we might try to avoid the dangers of giving direct help to people who have asked us for money regardless of the need. And offer to provide the things they wish to buy instead of giving them money. Note, whatever you do, it is for the Lord.
The second way in which help may be provided for the needy is through SOCIAL.
Believers ought to try to do away with the CAUSES of poverty and human suffering. This often requires changes in the way that society is organized and governed.
Examples:- Agricultural workers and day laborers are unable to earn a large enough salary to take good care of their families. Several children have become ill due to lack of enough food.
SOCIAL HELP:- Organize a program of free food through your church to help needy families not otherwise, this is a direct help. OR cooperate with the workers to organize themselves and bargain with their employers in good way to obtain a just and adequate wage for their work. This would be social help.
Another, many of the people in your area are unable to find work, best solution:- Persuade a private company to build a factory or locate some other project which would provide long- term employment in that area. It makes your christian life grow and benefit.
Social help deals with the basic CAUSE of problem of the people. And it will deal with the SYMPTOMS of the problem. And education will keep the problem from being repeated in the future.
Today, there are some in our churches who call themselves followers of Christ but are not truly so. (You have no food, no job what do you need ?) At the time of the coming of Jesus Christ, this fact will become evident.
Know and do what is right keeps your faith alive. See Isaiah 58 : 10, And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN 2
Christ’s rule never comes by force, but always by love and therefore can be, and sometimes is, pushed aside, even by a Christian, that is, Christian can fail to show in his life the qualities that he should.
This happens when he stops allowing Christ to rule over certain areas of his life.
Galatians 5:16–17, So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. Paul describes this constant struggle in the life of a believer, between our own will and that of Christ. We are engaged in a spiritual battle, and sometimes we can fail by letting self- will get the upper hand. Mostly when we said, we engaged ourselves with so call fighting the enemies or looking for miracle or riches.
In Matthew 6:33, Jesus gives us some very good advice. “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” This is very important because it means that we should always seek to keep Christ ruling on the throne of our lives by obeying His will instead of our own will.
Christ, our King, died so that we should no longer live for ourselves but for Him.
Therefore in any position we find ourselves, whether we are eating better, sleeping, travelling, praying, or even just breathing, it must be for Him. (Christ)
The Kingdom of God is present wherever people are living, not for themselves, but for Christ teaching; in other words, people who seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
We must note that, there are three barriers that block our total surrender to God’s will, they are FEAR, PRIDE AND CONFUSION to what God’s love is.
Today it is your choice to surrender or not to this Kingdom. In this present Kingdom He only rules in the hearts of those who have surrendered their wills to Him in love. But in His future Kingdom everyone will confess Him as Lord. Philippians 2:10, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Also read Daniel 7:13 – 14, In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His Kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
Here are two more wonderful things about the future Kingdom. (1) Satan will be finally bound out, and will never again be able to bother members of the Kingdom of Christ. (2) Our self – will, will be totally ended, and will never be felt again by the members of the Kingdom of Christ, note, self – will being “totally ended, do not mean the destruction of our personality ; in that sense” “we” are still there.
NOW IS YOUR RIGHT TIME, SURRENDER!
The main theme of Gospel
(THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN)
It is important to know that the Bible uses at least three different names for the same kingdom
1. In Matthew 13:33 – Kingdom of heaven.
2. In Luke 13:20–Kingdom of God.
3. In Ephesians 5:5 - Kingdom of Christ / God.
Therefore, « Kingdom of heaven, » « Kingdom of God » and « Kingdom of Christ » are just three different ways of talking about Jesus’ Kingdom. They are in fact three different names for the same Spiritual Kingdom.
Few countries today have a king or a queen. In those which do, the authority of the king or queen is usually shared with an elected group of legislators. In time past (when writing Bible) this was not so. The king often had absolute power. In other words the authority of the King was total.
Jesus Christ, the King, was anointed with the Holy Spirit. The symbols of His rule are also spiritual. Hebrews 1 : 8, But about the Son he says, “Your throne , O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. Read also Hebrews 2:7, You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honor.
People like the Jews of the past were awaiting for a Messiah with an earthly kingdom, the Kingdom of Christ is different, because the teaching of Jesus referred to a Spiritual Kingdom.
The majority of those who have not yet been saved by Jesus, are not demon possessed, but follow the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air (Satan) the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. Ephesians 2:2, In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
A person’s life can either be occupied by Christ or by something else, but never by both at once. The Lord’s Prayer makes this plain. See Matthew 6:10, Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The Lord’s prayer teaches us that the Kingdom of heaven is set up on earth when Christ is on the throne and ruling in the lives of those who do the will of Jesus the King, instead of their own will.
My point, think of example from your own experience of ways in which you have found out what the will of God is for you, and also ask the Lord to reveal to you areas in your life not fully surrendered to Him. Prayerfully put this right and perhaps be ready to testify to this and share.
Remember, when the Kingdom of heaven comes in power into our lives, and we let Jesus rule over every part, wonderful things begin to happen - Read Romans 14:17, For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
May you be blessed in Jesus name.
KNOW MORE ABOUT THE TRUE MIRACLES
Anyone who wants the answer to this question should study the miracles in the Bible. Some people call almost anything good or amazing a miracle. Because God is who He is, everything He does is powerful, wonderful and good.
James 1:17, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. However, in the Bible God does not call everything He does a miracle or a sign. Now let us think about God’s work through Jesus.
Many people of many different religions claim to do miracles like Jesus did. You can test these claims. Just compare them with the true miracles in the Bible. How and why. Are all the healings instantly successful? Do they heal every kind of illness, even the ones that doctors never can cure? Do they show the different kinds of complete power over nature that Jesus showed?
Agents of Satan are many miracle workers today. Satan does speak against God’s Word in many ways, he (Satan) sometimes tries to use miracles to lead people astray. Here are the miracles. See Matthew 7:21–23, Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! Also read Matthew 24:24, For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect – if that were possible. Read 2nd Thessalonians 2:9, The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders. See Revelation 13:13, And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. Also see Revelation 16:14, They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty. Read Revelation 19:20, But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. That is why the Bible commands us to test those who claim to use great powers from God. See 1st John 4:1, Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Also see Revelation 2:2, I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. Read 1st Thessalonians 5:21, Test everything. Hold on to the good.
Their teachings can easily be tested because God has already spoken clearly and fully through His Son. See Hebrews 1:1–2, In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. Also see Hebrews 2:1, We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. Read 2nd Peter 1:3, His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Also see Jude 3 if you can. Their miracles can easily be tested because God has already given clear descriptions of His true miracles. Notice, become rich without education that leads to good work or hard labour that leads to riches is not a true miracle.
Think, for example, about healing. Sick people often get well. God usually works this healing through natural means that are slow. But when God healed through His Son Jesus, He always healed instantly, not slowly. He immediately healed every kind of illness, even sicknesses that no doctor on earth could ever heal. Acts 2:22, Men of Israel, listen to this : Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know. Also read Acts 10:38, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him.
Remember that the greatest sign and miracle from God to the human race was this: Jesus was crucified and died on a cross, was buried, but came back to life again by God’s power. All of biblical prophecy shows this truest miracle to anyone who has eyes to see.
God bless you.
Revelation 20:1–6 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and reign with him for a thousand years.
The differences of opinion in regard to the order of events during the second coming of Christ have to do with the relationship between that second coming and the Millennium.
Let’s sum these differences up with three questions :-
1) Will the coming of the Lord be BEFORE the Millennium?
2) Will the coming of the Lord be AFTER the Millennium?
3) Is the Millennium just a SYMBOL? (which means then that it is NOT a definite period of time)
It is from the answers to these questions that the three different interpretations of the text appear.
Question 1 answer - The coming of Christ will be BEFORE the Millennium.
Question 2 answer - The coming of Christ will be AFTER the Millennium.
Question 3 answer - The Millennium mentioned in Revelations is a symbolical expression.
Note the word Millennium itself refers to a period of 1,000 years which will be characterized by peace and justice on the earth.
The doctrine of the Millennium is called MILLENNIALISM.
The belief that Jesus will return BEFORE the Millennium of peace and justice is called PRE- MILLENNIALISM, means before 1,000 years.
The belief that teaches that Jesus will return AFTER the Millennium of peace and justice is called POST – MILLENNIALISM means after 1,000.
The belief that the Bible does NOT predict a period of universal peace and justice on earth, but that we should understand the Millennium in a SYMBOLIC way like the other prophecies in Revelations is called A MILLENNIALISM.
Those who hold the PRE- MILLENNIAL position not only teach that the second coming of Christ will be followed by a Millennium of peace and justice, but also that during those 1,000 years, Christ will reign in person on the earth. It is after this 1,000 year reign that the end of the world will come. (the Christ Apostolic Church official position)
Those who believe in the POST- MILLENNIAL position teach that the world will get better and better until it will become Christian toward the end, before the return of Christ. The second of Christ is said to take place after a Millennium of universal peace and justice upon the earth. Christ will then return and the end of the world will come at last.
MILLENNIALISM teaches that Revelations 20:1–6, like the rest of Revelations, is a passage which is full of symbolism. For this reason, it is not to be interpreted literally. According to Amillennialism, the Bible does not predict a time of worldwide peace and justice. The Millennium is a symbol which is used for the development of the spiritual kingdom of Jesus Christ by means of the preaching of the Gospel among the nations. It is through this preaching that Satan is bound by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Then will come the second coming of Jesus with a general resurrection of the dead, the last judgment, and the end of the world, all more or less at the same time.
Instead of becoming involved in fruitless discussions on this matter, you should be busy making yourself ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
At least, we all and surely agreed about the importance of this point, « the Jesus Christ second coming.”
THE GLORY OF GOD
Psalm 19:1 says “the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands”
King David was right. If our sun, billions of stars is so powerful, how much more powerful is the One who made all suns! He is called “the Father of lights » See James 1:17, Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
The sun’s strength is strictly controlled. If the sun changed its course even a little, all life on our planet would end. Everything is in perfect place for life to exist on this earth. See Hebrews 3: 4, For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. Look closely at the simplest leaf in nature. It is far better planned than a house. It has tiny openings for the flow of gases. Its green coloring catches sunlight and uses it for energy. Its veins carry watery food from the soil. It is more like a highly ordered city. And that just one leaf. We have not considered jungles and forest full of different plants. We have not pointed out the way the many, many kinds of land and sea animals, nor all that it takes to provide them life. Read Psalm 147:8–9, He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
The realities about God and your life can be clearly seen. How ? Being understood from what has been made. Just looking at the wonderful creation around us helps us to know about God and His goodness. See Psalm 107:8–9, Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
We know of the wind’s presence by its effect as it moves dust and leaves. In a far greater way we know things about God by the effect of His work in our life and around us. God has made it clear to those who are willing to look. That is why people (You and I) have « no excuse » when they twist the truth about God.
Some one else may have ideas about a certain situation, good! But hope and faith in God through Christ stand for your best option, because, it is Him God who create, judge, redeem and make perfect. Read Hebrews 12 : 2, Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. See 1st Chronicles 4:9–10, Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, I gave birth to him in pain. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my terrotory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain. And God granted his request. Also read Psalm 86:1–4, Hear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift my soul.
May the Glory of God shine in our life. Amen.
These earth creatures are strange! They fight, kill one another, lie, steal, destroy; and commit all kinds of wickedness etc. and they are only harming themselves for one reason or another. But they are also capable of great love, they sacrifice themselves to help others, they are generous, and they can create many good things. Human beings are very contradictory.
Genesis 1:27, So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him ; male and female He created them. According to this verse, God created man. And verse 31 said, It was very good. Therefore, on the basis of this verse, we can see that man too must have been very good just after his creation. Because verse 27 said, he was God’s image.
But, what does the Bible really mean when it says that man was created in the image of God? Man does not share all the attributes of God. Like God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and infinite.
Those characteristics which man shares with God, are, ability to have personal relationships with others, Able to love others, Able to reason, capable of telling the difference between what is good and bad, and capable of making beautiful art and to appreciate what is beautiful. This suggests that these are the qualities which are meant in the verse which says that man has been created in the image of God.
There are many people today who believe that man is only a very intelligent animal. It is true that some animals show something of one or more of the characteristics in human list of attributes. But, how many animals have ALL of the characteristics which together to form the image of God in man. None of the animals.
Genesis 9:6 says, Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed ; for in the image of God has God made man. God points out the reason why it is such a terrible thing to kill a man because man is made in God’s image. See also James 3 : 9, With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness.
To speak or act against man, who is made in the image of God, is equal to acting or speaking against God Himself.
We should always treat human with respect. The fact that God made man a man steward means that man was capable of making his own decision. Genesis 2 : 15, The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. But we must be careful to point out that there are limitations upon man’s ability to act and decide.
A steward must be careful because the master will come to see what has been done.
ALL MEN FEEL INSECURE AND WEAK SOME- HOW
Read John 2:24–25, But Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all men. He did not need man’s testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.
The fearful man uses a series of mental adjustments to avoid facing a threatening environment. Some of these adjustments are defensive and are aggressive
Some believers are afraid of psychology and think that believers should stay away from such things. But, the truth of the matter is that knowledge of psychology is very necessary today. Because many young people study psychology in high schools and you should be able to talk to them.
It helps us to know ourselves better and to understand others. Also, it is important to realize that all men underneath the surface feel insecure and weak. Reactions are striking out against others in most of our prayers and crying out for help, both come from the same source that is fear
In Matthew chapter 14, Peter in the water and Herod with John the Baptist. Read verses 1–5, At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus, and he said to his attendants. This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him. Now Herod has arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for John had been saying to him: It is not lawful for you to have her. Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered him a prophet. Read also verses 26 – 30, when the disciple saw Him walking on the lake, they were terrified. It’s a ghost, they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: Take courage! It is I. don’t be afraid. Lord if it’s you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water. Come, He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, Lord save me!
Many people fear the occult, or the spirit world. As a result of this fear, some people wear charms or go to Vigils and Mountains to keep away evil spirits or to give them good luck. Even, others become involved in spiritism or other kinds of superstitions.
We must understand that everyone experiences fear but not everyone reacts in the same way.
Actions and Reactions:-
The fact that you can see a small speck of sawdust in your brother’s or sister’s eye ought to lead you to a careful search in your own life to see if you are guilty of the same sin. See Matthew 7:1-3, Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eyes and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye ?
When someone places a sin which is hidden in their own life upon another person by criticizing them, projection has taken place. In this way they may ignore the problem in their own life. (Forger, and his or her environment)
When the prophet Nathan told king David about the rich man who had stolen a poor man’s only lamb, David became quite angry. But, he did not realize that he had committed this same kind of sin himself when he had taken another man’s wife.
Another point is an unconscious way of making oneself seems to be right. The person who rationalizes really believes that he is giving the true reasons for his actions when, in fact, they are FALSE reasons. See 1st John 1 : 8, If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Also see Proverbs 22:13, The sluggard says, There is a lion outside! or, I will be murdered in the streets ! Another points can be found in 1st Kings 21 : 1 – 4, Sometime later there was an incident involving a vineyard belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite. The vineyard was in Jezreel, close to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. Ahab said to Naboth, Let me have your vineyard to use for a vegetable garden, since it is close to my palace. In exchange I will give you a better vineyard or, if you prefer, I will pay you whatever it is worth. But Naboth replied, The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers. So Ahab went home, sullen and angry because Naboth the Jezreelite had said, I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers. He lay on his bed sulking and refused to eat. Read Jeremiah 1 : 6, Ah, Sovereign Lord, I said, I do not know how to speak ; I am only a child. See also Judges 6 : 15, But Lord, Gideon asked, how can I save Israel ? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.
Believers sometimes use regression to avoid responsibilities in the family, society or in the church. This is sad indeed !
Read Hebrews 5 : 13 – 14, Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
May you be blessed in Jesus name.
