Make things simple does not alway helps to make them right. It would seem simpler to some, if there were no Father, Son and Holy Spirit but simply God.
First we must note that the truth that there is only one God is revealed in the Old Testament. See Deuteronomy 6: 4, Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
God is one and exists in three persons; but we must remember that the persons are not three independent individuals, but rather three persons of the Divine Being we call God.
The word Trinity means that, there is one God who exists in three persons Matthew 28: 19, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. See 2nd Corinthians 13: 14, May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. See also John 20: 28, Thomas said to Him, My Lord and my God!
The Bible is not saying 1+1+1= 1 but 1x1x1= 1. Genesis 1: 26. Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.
Obviously we, with our finite minds, will never be able to understand everything about our great God, who has no limits to His presence, power and wisdom. Still, let’s try to grap what we can about this great truth. Perhaps the best way to do so is to think of each of the three persons of the Trinity as laying claim to my life, but each for a different reason.
God the Father lays claim to my life because He has made me.
Because the Holy Spirit lives in the life of every true believer of Christ. He owns me .
1st Corinthians 6: 19 – 20 explains that the believer does not belong to himself any longer, for he has been bought with a price. Again see 1st Peter 1: 18 – 19, For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers. But with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. So the Son bought me by His blood.
Each person of the Trinity can legitimately lay claim to our lives, for each has done so much for us. That is why Jesus said in His commission, in Matthew 28: 19, that all the disciples of all nations should be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. “Note not in the names”
The “name” of the three persons of the Trinity implies only one God, that God exists in three persons.
God knows everything, even the things that are hidden from us. It is God who reveals things to us; if it were not for God having revealed the truth about Himself, we would have no knowledge of Him at all.
Deuteronomy 29: 29, The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
May you be blessed by the Spirit of God.
