THE LORD IS MY HELPER
Psalm 4:8 says, "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." Also Deuteronomy 31:6 says, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."
In another place He said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." And "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. See Proverbs 29:25, Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. Psalm 23:1–2, The Lord is my shepherd I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me besides quiet waters. Isaiah 26:3–4, You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal. Isaiah 41:10–13, So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and say to you. Do not fear. I will help you.
Draw close to God and God will draw close to you. James 4:8, Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
We must choose to trust and obey God in faith, trust God’s wisdom and do whatever He says, even when you don’t understand, for God uses everything for good in our lives, so do not harbor resentment toward God over unanswered prayer, past hurts and even other things we would change if we were God. Notice you will never be God.
What is sure, God always acts in your best interest, even when it is painful and you don’t understand it.
Jesus said, "I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love, when you obey me, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in His love. I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes your joy will overflow. (John 15:9–11)
If Jesus, great as He is, needed to follow His Father’s will, how much more should we lesser beings take care to obey. Because of His humble obedience, Jesus was exalted to the Father’s side. Philippians 2:7–9, But made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself and became obedient to death–even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name. Hebrews 5:8–9, Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered and, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him. John 14:1–18, If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever–the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Truly, Christ is the helper of His people.
