Matthew 6:33, But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
To seek first the kingdom of God means to be ready to do Christ’s will always, in thought, word, and deed. But Paul describes the constant struggle in the life of a believer, (Christians) between self-will and that of Christ as sinful nature and spirit. See Galatians 5:16–19, So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery.
Sometimes we can fall by letting self-will get the upper hand. What steps should you do to remedy it? How can you keep it from happening again?
° Say to the Lord that I’m sorry and ask Him to forgive and restore you, believing
that He will.
°Ask and make sure that Jesus comes back on the throne of your life and is ruling
over everything you undertake again.
° Try, with the Lord’s help, not to let self- will get the upper hand again.
° Lift the shield of faith; faith in God’s great love (to forgive) and power (to keep)
° If I've wronged someone else, be ready to say sorry and make amends.
Christ, our Lord, died so that we should no longer live for ourselves but for Him.
Therefore whether we are eating, sleeping, travelling, praying, or even just
breathing, it must be for Him.
Jesus never forces His rule upon any one. It can only come by love. Why not stop for just a moment to make sure that He is on the throne of your life. Bow in prayer and invite Him to rule over everything of your life. Ask Him to help you find and obey His will in all things.
So far, is about the kingdom of heaven as it is here and now (in the PRESENT) We must also think about the FUTURE kingdom and how it will be set up on that great day when Christ will come back again to rule over the whole universe, over all His enemies, and even over Satan himself. See Philippians 2:10–11, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
What is the difference between the extent of Christ’s rule in His PRESENT kingdom and His rule when His FUTURE kingdom is established?
°In His present kingdom He only rules in the hearts of those who have surrendered their wills to Him in love.
° In His FUTURE kingdom everyone will confess Him as Lord.
Satan will be finally bound and thrown out and will never again be able to bother members of the kingdom of Christ. As well, our self–will, will be totally ended and will never be felt again by the members of the kingdom of Christ.
Be assured that one day your self–will and Satan will finally be destroyed and all suffering and death pass away.
May you be blessed in Jesus name.
