When we say we are PLEASED with someone we mean that we are happy and satisfied with everything the person has done.
Doing the WILL of God and PLEASING God are two things which require constant work in all areas of our lives.
Example, Jesus and (Father) GOD. Matthew 3:17; 12:18.
BECAUSE JESUS ALWAYS PLEASED HIM DOING HIS WILL.
Jesus said: If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching; My Father will love him, and we will come to Him and make our home with Him (John 14:23)
We see that obedience to the TEACHING of Christ is the same thing as doing the will of God.
I made mention of Jesus prayer at Gethsemane last month. Note, just after that prayer He was taken for trial before the RELIGIOUS TRIAL (JEWISH) Matthew 26 : 57-60,
Next before CIVIL TRIAL (ROMAN) Matthew 27: 1 – 2.
We studied about Jesus temptations. On the cross, Jesus is tempted.
In this temptation to come down from the cross. Matthew 27: 40. He would have had to use His divine power to do that and boast His own prestige by showing that He really was the Son of God and the king of Israel as in the temptation of the Temple.
But Jesus willingly do the will of God by making it possible for the fulfillment of prophecies.
Look up Psalm 22. Many of the words in the Psalm were fulfilled at the time of Jesus’ death.
Psalm 22 verse 1 = Matthew 27: 46.
Psalm 22 verse 7 = Matthew 27: 39- 40.
Psalm 22 verse 8 = Matthew 27: 43.
Psalm 22 verse 18 = Matthew 27: 35.
What did Jesus mean when He said these words? Is it possible that at this moment His faith was wavering? Read ISAIAH 59 : 2
What do man’s iniquities do? They make a separation between us and our God. Did Jesus have any iniquity of His own?
No ! But at the moment of His death He was taking upon Himself all of OUR iniquities. Human iniquity was at the moment causing a separation in His communion with God. Matthew 27: 51 – 56.
The curtain of the temple KEPT OUT the people from the Holy of Hollies. It was a symbol of the fact that sin kept out sinners from the presence of a Holy God as we read in Isaiah 59: 2.
So, the torn curtain symbolizes the fact that Christ, through His death opened the way to the presence of God. (Hebrews 10: 19 – 22)
We should draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith.
Have this understand that a child asks his father for something the father knows to be dangerous, for example a loaded pistol or poison, does the good father give it to him? Of course not because the father certainly does, the father knows what is best for the child and acts in the child’s best interest.
God bless you till next week
