MAN’S SIN AND SEPARATION FROM GOD
1st Peter 3:18, tells us how God can be just and put right those who have sinned; Jesus paid the price of our sin.
Our response to God. See John 1:12, Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. It has two parts: (1) repentance–we ask for forgiveness and renounce sin. (2) Faith – accept Christ’s gift and receive Him as Saviour and Lord.
All have sinned and are separated from God. See Isaiah 59:2, But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.
SIN: difference between sin and sins: the basic disease and symptoms.
Read Matthew 3:6, confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. Jesus was the only one who didn’t confess His sins at His baptism. Why was this, according to Hebrews 4:14–15, Therefore, since we have a great High Priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet was without sin. He was without sin. Jesus never sinned, but as an act of complete obedience to His Father’s will, Jesus insists on John the baptizer. Read Matthew 3:15, Jesus replied, Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness. Then John consented.
Hebrews 2:17 tells us that, in order for the people’s sins to be forgiven, Jesus “had to be make like brothers (that is, the rest of mankind) in every way”
Jesus shared in the consequence of the people’s sins, not, of course, in the act of sin. By being baptized He identified with the fallen human race, a commitment that later led to His being “made sin” for us on the cross. See 2nd Corinthians 5:21, God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God. So that, through Him, we might become the righteousness of God; that is have our sins forgiven and be saved.
Remember God’s love and perfect plan.
4 He wants us to live this life to the full. John 10:10, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
5 Because Christ Himself suffered death for our sins. He was good, but suffered for us sinners in order to lead us to God. Read 1st Peter 3:18, For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the spirit. Also read John 1:12, Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God
We all can enjoy “forgiveness” because Jesus suffered the punishment we deserved. Our sins condemned us. They separated us from God and killed us spiritually. When Jesus gave His life on the cross, He took our place. Now the Father gives to us the gift of His Son’s own purity and goodness. See John 11:25–26, Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe in this?
John the Baptizer was a prophet who prepared people to accept Jesus. He did this by preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. See Mark 1:4, And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
“Repentance” refers to the decision to change, to stop living in sin and start following Christ. Baptism marks that change with this purpose; for the forgiveness of sins. See Romans 8:37–39, No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Read also John 14:6–7, Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.

Remember God’s love and perfect plan.
- He loves the entire world. John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. i.e. you.
- He has a perfect plan for each of us. Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
