God is so great and our mind is so small, that all God’s truth and acts cannot fit into it. Because man is finite he is limited in every way. God knows everything even the things that are hidden from us. But He is always good.
Malachi 3:1, See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to His temple, the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come, says the Lord Almighty. Read also Isaiah 40:3–5, A voice of one calling: In the desert prepare the way for the Lord, make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low ; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
Baptism by John divided the people. Those who wanted to get ready for the Messiah (the Chosen One) confessed their sins and were baptized. But others, especially religious people, were too proud. They would not say how sinful they were. Baptism was simple obedience to God’s command. It meant trusting God for forgiveness. Their hard hearts had no room for such obedient trust. See Luke 7:29–30, (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)
The life and witness of many christians show that they have not really learned yet how to use God’s promises. It is n’t that they have n’t read or hear them but they have n’t let the truth take effect in their lives. Pray that Holy Spirit will help you to know how to prove the reality of God’s promises in your own life.
Very many of God’s promises throughout the Old Testament refer to the first coming of Jesus Christ. These promises appear from Genesis to Malachi, the last. See Genesis 3:14–15, So the Lord God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, Cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers ; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.
In order to understand this promise in Genesis 3:15, it is very important to remember that it is God who is speaking to the Serpent. God also says this enmity between Satan and Eve will continue through their offspring (descendant of the woman)
Note. The contrast of heel and head is meant to emphasize that although the descendant of the woman would suffer, but the Serpent would be completely defeated. Every living thing in the world is true to its nature; for example by nature a fish swims in the water. In the same way God’s nature is to keep His promises. But at times there is a long interval before the fulfillment. See Galatians 4:4, But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
Do n’t think that there will always be time periods of many years before God’s promises are fulfilled. The proper time for the fulfillment of many promises of God about you is now or at least in the near future. For all God’s promises will be kept, some sooner, others later. Because they are only fulfilled at the proper time.
Give thanks to God because He always keeps His promises and also ask for more faith and patience for times when you have to wait for God to keep a promise.
