MIRACLES AND HEALINGS.
In the New Testament, it is important to note that Jesus Christ did not work miracles when it was not necessary, so is the case today.
Think about the miracle He did when Lazarus was raised from the dead, note how was the stone removed away from the tomb and there after, means that people need to do something. John 11:39–45, “Take away the stone,” He said. “But, Lord” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me. » When He had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in Him.
So if we are to grow and be blessed we need to do something and not to do certain things. Psalms 1:1–6, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does proper’s. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”
Note what Jesus said in John 6:26–27, Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”
The truly happy person does not follow wicked advice, does not stand on the road of sinners, and does not sit with the disrespectful. Instead of doing these things, these persons love the Lord’s instruction, and they recite God’s instruction day and night! The Bible says they are like a tree replanted by streams of water, which bears fruit at just the right time and whose leaves do not fade. See John 6:4–9, “The Jewish Passover Feast was near. When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat? » He asked only to test him, for He already had in mind what He was going to do. Philip answered Him, “Eight months wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up. Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
How do you get true miracle, Let us go back to John chapter 6. John not only gives us some new and important details about the miracle, but in the rest of Chapter 6, John tells how, after returning of Jesus from his first journey, Jesus gave His sermon on the Bread of Life in the Synagogue at Capernam. In this sermon, Jesus explained the meaning of the miracle of feeding of the 5,000 which He had performed near the town of Betthsaida, near the time of the Passover Feast.
Today, sadly, some judge Christ without knowing Him. They have heard about Him, which may include bad reports as follows: - Wars, cruelty and crimes committed in His name - Harsh rules imposed in His name - So-called “Miracles” claimed in His name.
Hypocrites who cover up their lies in His name - Leaders who get rich and powerful in His name. Supposedly “Christian” governments and nations that do wrong.
Such evils are the exact opposite of Jesus’ life and teaching. Jesus and His apostles warned that enemies would give Christ’s way a bad name (bring it into « disrepute”)
2nd Peter 2:1–2, “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.”
