How can you recognize a good family? A look at the family that listens to each other in particular the father will do us a good example.
Sincere, the Christian life responds to a “call to be » we first learn to listen. Listen with open ears. Listen carefully. The Bible says the family of God continued to listen and devoting themselves to « the apostles’ teaching” Today we talk of prayer, prayer, but how?
Live a life of love. Be imitators of God. See Ephesians 5:1–2, “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Human parents must follow the example of our Heavenly Father. See Ephesians 6:1–4, Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment, with a promise–that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on earth. Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. See also 1st Samuel 3:11–13, And the Lord said to Samuel: “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle. At that time I will carry out against Eli everything I spoke against his family – from beginning to end. For I told him that I would judge his family forever because of the sin he knew about, his son made themselves contemptible, and he failed to restrain them”.
Discipline with love teaches a child to accept God’s plan for him and it is biblical to be careful to discipline in the family. See Proverbs 13:24, “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.”
The prayer time in the family (altar time) should be a short and simple prayer that all can understand, should be about the things that the family knows about, such as a church, the Pastor, the president, relatives, school and so on.
And every part of the family altar should be geared to lead the children and the parents toward a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. See Mathew 18:20, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them”.
How wonderful it is when parents can happily lead their whole family together to the Heavenly Father in prayer. We should know that each different period of family growth bring its own blessing and its own trials, some-how, some children try the faith of their parents even more than at any other time.
Knowing how little we know is essential preparation for our duty. See 1st Corinthians 8: 1–3 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God.
So, build your faith in knowing and doing according to the words of God.
