Colossians 1:27, To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Surely no one can remain the same when Jesus Christ comes to stay in him. Everything changes, His Spirit takes charge. What changes will bring as He lives and works in you. Or life looks like what when it is filled with Christ’s Spirit?
True disciples live what they learn from Jesus. See John 13:17, Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
A changed life, get ready to apply and experience what it means to be a new creation. See 2nd Corinthians 5:17–19, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Read also Romans 8 :13–15, For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, Abba, Father.
Think about the day you were baptized into Christ. See Romans 6:3–4, Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
In repentance, you turned away from sin and confessed your faith in Christ. Acts of Apostles 2:38–39, Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call. In trust, you went under the water and were buried with Him through baptism. From that grave, you were raised to live a new life. Born again, that is born of water and spirit to enter God’s Kingdom. John 3:3–5, In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again. How can a man be born when he is old? Nicodemus asked. Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born! Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
You became God’s son and heir. Galatians 3:26–27, You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
You entered the Lord’s family, known as His body or church. Ephesians 1:22–23, And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
You died with Christ and left behind your old person of sin. Colossians 2:11–12, In Him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Your sins were forgiven, washed away by His blood. 1st Peter 1:18–19, For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.
You received a new life empowered by Christ’s resurrection. 1st Peter 1:8, Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. Read also 1st Peter 3:21, And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also–not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You received the Holy Spirit. Acts of Apostles 5:32, We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him. See Galatians 4:6, Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father. Also read Ephesians 1:3, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
Your spirit is alive if Christ is in you and those who do not listen to Christ will be completely cut off. Read Acts of Apostles 3:22–23, For Moses said, The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything He tells you. Anyone who does not listen to Him will be completely cut off from among his people.
